Botox FAQs: All You Need To Know

Fast-paced lifestyles, pollution and cold or harsh weather can all take their toll and leave us looking old before our time. Botox is an increasingly popular solution to the effects of ageing, working by relaxing key muscles in the face to reduce the impact of wrinkles and prevent them becoming deeper.

If you’re considering a Botox treatment, read on for some answers to the most commonly asked questions.

Is Botox Safe?
Rigorous scientific testing has ensured that Botox is one of the safest cosmetic treatments on the market. In the US, for example. it is officially approved by the FSA, and, from the 11th September 2013, Botox also became officially approved by the Food and Drug Administration. Its usage is become increasingly common in the UK for medical reasons, drawing attention to serious medical benefits this treatment can offer.

What are the Most Common Botox Treatments?
Botox is most commonly used to treat frown lines, horizontal lines on the forehead, crow’s feet and lines around the nose and mouth. It also has non-cosmetic uses, such as the treatment of recurring twitching around the eyes and has even been used as an NHS treatment to prevent chronic headaches.

What Treatments are Available at Essex Medical Aesthetics?
We specialise in both cosmetic and non-cosmetic treatments, including lip lines and crow’s feet as well as treatments for migraines and jaw clenching. We afford our clients the option of choosing one or more specific areas, and provided a course of two treatments for something like jaw clenching. We also offer a top-up correction service two weeks after the treatment.

How Long Does Botox Last?
Botox treatments last around 3-4 months, with variations depending on each individual, and our top-up service is recommended to assess the success of the treatment. If used as part of a longer-term course of treatment, Botox can last up to 6 months.

If I Use Botox and Then Stop, Will My Lines Get Worse?
There is no risk of your wrinkles or lines worsening if you decide to only have one course of treatment. They will simply gradually return to how they used to be, and for many people a single course of treatment in a specific area is a good way of experimenting and enjoying the benefits first hand.

Who Can I Speak to About Botox Treatment?
